Books are distributed through various channels, in different formats, and by multiple sellers. Here’s how your earnings are calculated for each scenario:

Printed Books (Sold in India on BookFylo App or on Amazon, Flipkart, etc. by BookFylo or Third-party POD Sellers)
You earn 80% of the Revenue Share, where:
Revenue Share = List Price – Printing Cost – Seller Margin or Platform Cost (typically 40-50% of List Price)Third-party sellers determine their revenue share, margin, platform cost etc., which may vary depending on the seller, even for the same book format and channel.
Example: Let’s say the list price of your printed book is ₹500. Here’s how earnings are calculated:
List Price: ₹500
Printing Cost: ₹150
Platform Cost: ₹200 (40% of List Price)
Revenue Share: ₹500 – ₹150 – ₹200 = ₹150
Author’s Earnings: 80% of ₹150 = ₹120 -
Ebooks (Sold Globally Through BookFylo App)
You earn 80% of the Revenue Share, where:
Revenue Share = List Price – Platform Cost (20% of List Price) -
Author Copies
Author copies are sold at a subsidized price exclusively to the author/publisher of the book. No earnings are generated from these copies.
For books with international distribution enabled which are sold globally by third party sellers & platforms:

You earn 60% of the Revenue Share provided by the Seller.For global sales, the earnings calculation also accounts for operational costs like currency conversion to INR when the book is sold in a foreign currency.

The Platform Cost covers the operational expenses associated with managing orders, server costs, downloads, customer support, free shipping options (if any) as well as providing eBook access to readers, allowing them to access and read their books on our platform.
